MIREMPET inaugurates the first Angolan diamonds laboratory

The Minister of Mineral Resources, Oil, and Gas, Diamantino Azevedo inaugurated today, the 25th of April, in Saurimo, the first diamonds laboratory of the Country property of the Angolan National Diamonds Company.

Implemented in partnership with the Angolan Geological Institute, the laboratory aims at preparing, testing, and characterizing samples of kimberlites and alluvial material to support the diamonds prospection and research.

This undertaking comprises two buildings designed and implemented by Angolan executives.

In his opening speech, the Minister Diamantino Azevedo, stated that this is the achieving of a target his ministry has had set.

On his part, Daniel Félix Neto, Governor of Lunda Sul, stated that the moment represents another step in the region’s development process and stressed MIREMPET attention to the province, mentioning the construction of infrastructures connected to the diamonds sub sector, and pointed out the example of the Saurimo Diamonds Development Pole.

Ganga Júnior, ENDIAMA E.P. CEO, stressed that the creation of the above-mentioned laboratory results from the always existing need to settle problems in the diamonds investigation field in Angola.

It should be reminded that, in the Miner’s Day celebrations framework, the IGEO regional laboratory has also been inaugurated today.
