History of leadership in the mining sector marks the opening of Mineworkers’ Day

The opening of the technical-scientific conference on Mining Workers’ Day, celebrated on April 27, was marked by a round table discussion on the theme “History of Leadership in the Mining Sector”.

Speakers at the event included Ganga Júnior, Chairman of the Board of Directors of ENDIAMA-EP, Paulino Neto, President of the Angolan Order of Engineers, Eugénio Bravo da Rosa, CEO of SODIAM, Jacinto Rocha, CEO of the National Agency for Mineral Resources, and other individuals who shared with the audience made up of students and professionals in the sector, important moments from their professional careers in the sector over 40 years ago.

The event was led by the Secretary of State for Mineral Resources, Jânio Corrêa Victor, who was also responsible for presenting Minister Diamantino Azevedo’s message to the “Mining Family” on the occasion of the event.

The program for the days, which will take place in the provinces of Luanda, Huambo and Lunda Norte, under the slogan “The evolution and prospects of mining activity in Angola”, includes various activities, including the Gala for the Finalists of the 2nd Edition of the Catoca Journalism Prize, and a workshop on the Gold Value Chain.

Mining Workers’ Day was institutionalized in 1985 as a tribute to workers in the sector for their commitment and contribution to the country’s economic and social development.
