The chairman of the board of directors of Luele Mining Company, Rómulo Mucase, reported on Saturday, 30, in Lunda Sul, that the mine produced four million four hundred thousand carats of diamonds during its first year of operations.
Rómulo Mucase who was speaking at the opening of the celebrations for the first anniversary of the mine inaugurated in November 2023 by the President of the Republic João Lourenço, underlined the capacity of the team, which has faced various challenges, to structure the company administratively, leverage the geological-mining programmes, intensify and stabilize production, adapt the qualification of human capital, as well as develop social responsibility and sustainability programmes.
He said that supporting communities with sustainable projects will continue to be at the heart of the company’s priorities, having advanced the level of physical execution of the 300 social houses for the resettlement of the population living near the mining areas, which is over 40 percent.
At present, he concluded, Luele Mining Company has 2.441 workers, representing an increase of 1,588 jobs compared to the same period last year.
Participating in the commemorative event were the national director of Mineral Resources, Paulo Tanganha, representing Minister Diamantino Azevedo, the executive director of ENDIAMA-E.P, Laureano Receado Paulo, the PCA of ANRM, Jacinto Rocha, of IGEO, José Manuel, among others.
