ENDIAMA-E.P recently concluded the process of paying compensation to more than 2,000 former workers of the mining companies that were paralyzed around 12 years ago in the province of Lunda Norte.

The information was given on Wednesday in Luanda by the executive director for Mining Operations, Administration and Human Resources at ENDIAMA-E.P, Domingos Margarida, during a meeting with representatives of the former employees of SML and the Luarica, Luxinge, Facauma and Yetwene diamond projects.

According to the official, the meeting was used to sign the out-of-court settlement between the parties, regarding the conclusion of the payment of compensation to the former workers of the aforementioned companies.

He revealed that, for the process that began in June last year, Empresa Nacional de Diamantes de Angola had disbursed around seven billion kwanzas, in addition to the training component for the children of former employees, as well as the implementation of projects to guarantee better social conditions for former workers of retirement age and their families.

Administrator Domingos Margarida guaranteed that this whole process could be completed by 2027.

On the occasion, Alberto Mulonzeno, one of the former workers, praised the openness of ENDIAMA’s board of directors in resolving each point contained in the agreement and said that, despite the complexity of the process, he believed in the company’s “good faith” in reaching a consensual outcome.

For his part, the ex-workers’ lawyer, Fernando Ginga, expressed his hope that the process would come to a successful conclusion and called for permanent dialogue in order to fully comply with the agreement signed by the parties.
