The Sociedade Mineira de Catoca, in the framework of its social responsibility actions, launched, last 26th of May, in Saurimo, a provincial soccer tournament named CATOCA CUP.
Luís Aníbal Janota, the COMPETIR project manager, announced that the CATOCA CUP, launched this May, will start next Saturday, 4th of June in the Municipal Mangueiras Stadium and will last until the 7th of August of this year, counting on the participation of 50 teams and on over 1,200 teenagers and youth representing the four province municipalities; this action counts on the Lunda Sul Provincial Government institutional support.
Its main objective is the sports massification and the promotion of activities that are of use for young people to cultivate good habits and traditions and discourage the use of alcohol and drugs by this society fringe.
It must also be stressed as a sample of the teenagers and young people sports potential in the province communities; many talents may be seen in this tournament.
“The CATOCA CUP is a project sponsored and executed by the Sociedade Mineira de Catoca, in the framework of its social actions comprehensive package aiming at promoting the development of young people in the four municipalities of the province through the sports practice and other actions such as lectures, a leisure alternative, making them take distance from risk behaviors such as the exaggerated alcohol and drugs consumption” said Luís Anibal Janota, project manager.
The manager recognizes the importance given by the Sociedade Mineira de Catoca to sports for the young people development.
Sports lead to good health and body vitality, teaches fundamental values, such as assisting others and contributes to the development of physical and social aptitudes. In one word, it serves as a stage for interacting with other people from the most various social-economic and cultural backgrounds, acquiring crucial knowledge for life, stressed Jonata.
The Sociedade Mineira de Catoca, it must be stressed, has a vast portfolio concerning sports, from sports massification projects developed in the last five years to the sponsorships keeping two of the country’s larger clubs in the Country- the Lunda Sul Sports Club and the Sagrada Esperança of Lunda Norte.
The press conference for launching the project and distribution of the sports material, balls, gear for the teams participating in the tournament counted on the presence of the Provincial Culture, Youth, and Sports Office Director, Salvador Wanuque, the sociologist Crispim Cabongo, and the traditional authority’s representative, Quito Muacassange.
