The participants in the 2nd International Diamond Conference of Angola – AIDC 2024, which closed on Thursday 24th, made a final commitment, among several recommendations, to “invest in mining 4.0”, “intensify social responsibility initiatives by companies and facilitate access to financing and insurance for projects in the sector”.

The Minister of Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas, Diamantino Pedro Azevedo, highlighted on Wednesday at the opening of the international event the important role that the companies ENDIAMA E.P, SODIAM E.P and other mining companies through the Fundação Brilhante – Face Social do Subsector Diamantífero have played in the socio-economic development of the eastern region and its population.

In his speech, the Minister described as “commendable initiatives” the social programs financed by Catoca and operated by the Fundação Brilhante, where, he said, “there is greater participation by the population, creating jobs”.

By way of example, he referred to the inauguration last year of the school lunch factory, which fits in with the Executive’s vision of creating jobs for young people. The Angola International Diamond Conference 2024 brought together more than 300 delegates, leaders, experts and professionals from the diamond industry for two days to discuss the sustainable development of Angola’s diamond sector.
