The Diamond Cutting and Evaluation Training Center (CEFOLAD) held Thursday in Lunda-Sul a ceremony to award certificates to 68 trainees at the Saurimo Diamond Development Pole.
At the opening of the event, the director of CEFOLAD, Etelvino Januário, said that the center is committed to ensuring the training of local manpower and local content to promote sustainable economic growth in Angola, considering that the awarding of the certificates is not only a milestone for the trainees, but also for the national diamond industry.
“The 68 trainees receiving their certificates today are living testimony to the public investment made by SODIAM and CEFOLAD in training our youth. This event not only marks the individual achievements of our graduates, but also collective progress towards a prosperous and sustainable future. “It is important to note that this investment does not involve any cost for their families, reflecting our commitment to equal opportunities in access to professional training,” he said.
The Secretary of State for Mineral Resources, Jânio Corrêa Victor, representing Minister Diamantino Azevedo, acknowledged SODIAM’s investment in the implementation of the Angolan Executive’s guidelines in the field of professional training for young people who will ensure the continuity of ongoing work in the diamond cutting and processing industry, as well as the commitment of the recent graduates, teachers and other staff at the Centre.
According to him, with 278 certified technicians, CEFOLAD has consolidated its fundamental role in training top quality professionals for our cutting industry.
“Today we are perfectly within the framework of our National Development Plan 2023-2027, in which one of the pillars is based precisely on the training of specialized staff and technicians so that we can carry out the countless tasks to diversify income, not only in the sector, but also to contribute to a broader economy, led by the Executive, which aims to achieve the goals of our population,” he said.
