ENDIAMA-E.P.’s Executive Director for Mining Operations and Participation Management, Laureano Receado Paulo, reiterated this Wednesday in the city of Dundo (Lunda Norte) that the company is focused on discovering new diamond reserves, with a view to increasing the number of mines and improving the economic cycle of the sub-sector.

Speaking at the opening of the half-yearly diamond production review workshop, Laureano Paulo announced that the Luachimba and Xamacanda projects, in Lunda Norte province, under ENDIAMA’s management, would soon come into operation.

He added that the sub-sector is working to extend the useful life of the Catoca mine to another 20 years, taking into account its potential for the country’s economic balance.

“Catoca is currently one of the best mines we have in the country. In the near future we may not have Catoca producing in the open, which is why it will be necessary to increase production and research capacity so that we can have Catoca for another 20 years,” he said.

He pointed out that the Luele mine, although an embryonic project, is consolidating and in the coming decades could be one of the best projects in Africa.
