Somiluana mining society needs an investment of about $35 million dollars to reach the production of eighteen thousand carats of diamonds until December 2023, compared to the current ten thousand carats, said the deputy general manager of the mine Guilherme Raimundo.
Guilherme Raimundo said, during an interview to the Marketing Communication and Events Office of ENDIAMA E.P., that for the first quarter of 2023, the mine foresees a production of twelve thousand carats per month and fifteen thousand carats of diamond for the second quarter with the works that will be developed in four fronts.
According to responsible, the production goals will only be reached if the equipment purchase plan carried out by the company’s management is met.
The Mine, which is slowly being built, has already hired about 130 new workers in several areas, mostly young people between 20 and 35 years old, and represents 19% of the company’s capacity.
Currently Somiluana’s workforce is around 671 employees of which 6% are expatriates, and 94% are nationals of which 75% come from the region of the North and South Lundas, and 19% who come from other parts of the country.
