The show aimed to present an artistic and institutional review of Endiama’s 45-year history, transforming the company’s story into a scenic narrative marked by historical accuracy and artistic sensitivity.
Endiama, in partnership with the Henrique Artes Theater Group, premiered a play that portrays the institution’s 45 years, from its foundation as Diamang, with the arrival of the Portuguese to diamond mining, to the present day, now as Endiama.
The presentation took place on January 30 at the Casa das Artes in Luanda. Lasting over an hour, the show highlights significant moments in the history of diamond mining, highlighting unprecedented slavery and the inhumane exploitation of diamonds, which severely affected the people of the Lundas and other regions of the country.
Forced labor, imposed on men, women, and children, is one of the central points of the narrative. According to what was illustrated on stage, workers were subjected to grueling working hours, always for the benefit of the Portuguese colonizers and other world powers, who enriched their countries with diamonds extracted from Angola.
