The National Association of Industrial Diamond Producers (ANPID) presented on Friday the members of its governing bodies.
On the occasion, the association’s vice-president, Victor Nunes, said that the aim of setting up the association was essentially to defend the main interests of diamond producers throughout the country and to contribute to greater revenue collection for the Angolan state.
He said that at the moment ANPID only has founding members, totalling 22 national diamond projects, and he hopes that this number will increase in the near future.
Victor Nunes also spoke about the current situation facing the international diamond market and some of the constraints created by the emergence of synthetic diamonds, which is why he is calling on the countries that produce natural diamonds to launch a massive campaign on the ‘precious stone’ not produced in laboratories.
Endiama Mining, Sociedade Mineira de Catoca, Sociedade Mineira do Uari, Sociedade Mineira do Chitotolo, Sociedade Mineira do Cuango and Sociedade Mineira do Calonda are founding and full members of the National Association of Industrial Diamond Producers.
The General Meeting is chaired by José Manuel Augusto Ganga Júnior, Miguel Maria Muay Nensuca and Alcides Malembe Escrivão, secretaries, Benedito Paulo Manuel, chairman, Victor Manuel Ventura Nunes, vice-chairman, Rómulo Mucase, first member, Henrique Videira, second member, Artur Jorge Alberto Gonçalves, third member.
The Supervisory Board is made up of Paulo Mandela do Amaral Martins, chairman, and also includes Porfírio Horácio Soares and Lucinda da Conceição Guedes Mota.
