The diamond subsector in Angola is promising and has good prospects, despite the challenges that still remain, said Laureano Receado Paulo, executive director of ENDIAMA-E.P, today in Luanda.
Speaking to the press on the last day of Expo Catoca, where he participated in the panel on ‘the future of the diamond subsector – reserves, innovation and added value’, Laureano Paulo said that with increasing production levels, there is also a responsibility to ensure that diamond mining is environmentally and socially sustainable.
He praised the initiative of the event’s organisers, which marks 30 years of activity by Sociedade Mineira de Catoca, emphasising that it has brought to Luanda a wealth of geological and mining knowledge, presented by different companies, some of which operate in this subsector in the eastern region of the country.
